I am not sure about people voicing their opinions getting shouted down Baz...I think the constant blame for everything being put on the immigrants is wrong. I even agree with the Tories and Labour on immigration...talks need to be done. I think walking out on Europe would be the worst thing we could do, I think we would be in an awful mess

But the point I am trying to make is that while you might feel like that Dame there seems to be an increasing swell of people who do feel immigration is a major factor ....rightly or wrongly ......and simply calling them racists is far , far too simplistic ....and counterproductive IMO .

the problem is that we are increasingly racist Baz...a new poll put out yesterday put a third of the UK as racist and its just not us and that's what I find terrifying.

I don't buy this 'shouted down' claim at all.  The press and politicians exploit racial divisions all the time.  Newspapers lead with race stories all the time.  Politicians speak out on immigration all the time.  Not just the Tories and Ukip either.

Far from being shouted down, they put those opinions out to generate support and sell newspapers.

They claim to be shouted down, because they think their views are so infallible that they should never be challenged.  There's nothing like pretending to be persecuted to give yourself the martyr status.  It couldn't be further from the truth.

But define racist Dame ?  If it's simply wanting the best for your own nation , does that mean those who , for example , want Scottish independence are racist ?

No, they are accused of racism...it's just as bad as being shouted down, it destroys freedom of speech...makes all the Liberal high minded classes feel like they have no case to answer, like their views on the world are the only ones worth hearing.

Not at all Baz.... No one said that if they were closet racists that would be alright, but how on earth can any party leader know whats going on in the hearts of all his MP's unless they get outed or let their guard down.

Now Nigel Farage is meant to be a mind reader as well. lol

I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush and I did state that on the first page, what I did say is a lot of people do not realise a lot of the UKIP candidates hold those views and I do know a lot of BNP have defected to UKIP. I also did say that I didn't think UKIP voters were racist, but I do agree with GJ that most racists did vote Ukip  that's those that would have voted for other extreme parties Baz and voted for UKIP because of the immigration issue.
