MrD did a law degree...    like many of his fellow students he never continued into the legal profession as he came out disillusioned, he'd gone into it thinking it was about justice

That's not the first time I've heard that, Ditty.

It's such a vain, smart arse business nowadays.

I know you've hinted at this before, but where are you getting that from, not being argumentative, just asking?

Me neither.  I know one thing if someone had done something so horrendous to Master C, I would personally want to torture it out of them.

Cosi I agree, that's the way the statement came across.  They might as well have thumbed their noses and said 'ner ner ne ner ner'

Me too Cinds

The defence making further inquiries? Hope the prosecution are doing so too...
There was so much TV coverage at the time, its a worry if they are looking for some "technicality".
He is entitled to a fair trial, as the laws provide, but something stinks somewhere about the whole thing imo.

I agree  they did keep saying at the time that they had to be careful what they disclosed

A six-month search for the missing five-year-old comes to an end, as police say they have looked everywhere around Machynlleth.

Police searching for five-year-old April Jones have completed their search in and around the Welsh town where she went missing.

The youngster vanished while playing on her bike near her home in Machynlleth on October 1 last year.

In the six months since her disappearance, police officers and specialist search teams from across the country have scoured an area spanning more than 60sq km.

They have explored hundreds of points of interest including mountains, gorges, streams and waterfalls, and vowed not to end their search until "all viable lines of enquiry were complete".

A spokesman for Dyfed Powys Police, which described the search as "extremely challenging", said a "reactive team of specialist officers is available to respond to any new information that is received".

I don't think he has, but for some reason I have it in the back of my head that he admitted knowing something.

Her parents must feel destroyed knowing that they have given up looking for her.

this is from his last court appearance - his trial starts on the 29th

Mark Bridger, 47, sat in the dock at Mold Crown Court flanked by two security guards as details of the charges were read out.

He clearly replied "not guilty" as five-year-old April's parents stared into the glass-fronted dock.

The judge made an order under the Contempt of Court Act that none of the evidence mentioned should be publicly reported.

But he added that Bridger's barrister's statement that the former lifeguard was "probably responsible" for April's death could be reported.

It sounds like everyone is assuming he's guilty before the trial, and the girls body hasn't been found,  if shes even dead.

and so the trial begins and details begin to emerge

Bone fragments from a child and blood matching missing five-year-old April Jones were found in the home of a man accused of murdering her in a sexually motivated attack, a jury has heard.

Opening the case for the prosecution, Elwen Evans QC said the defendant had gone to enormous lengths to conceal what he had done.

"He has played a cruel game in pretending not to know what he has done to her and with her. It is a game to try and save himself," she said.

The jury heard Mr Bridger undertook an "extensive clean-up operation" at his home which included the disposal of April's body and her clothes.

However, some evidence remained. Blood found in the living room, hallway and bathroom matched April's DNA.

Ms Evans told the court that bone fragments found in fire ashes at his home were consistent with those of a juvenile human skull, according to experts.

The prosecution said Mr Bridger claimed he was involved in a road traffic accident with April, then put her in a car to get her medical attention "although he did not in fact approach anyone for help".

Mr Bridger had claimed he ran over April and she was "pinned under the front tyre" of his vehicle. He claimed he tried to give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and drove away to get medical help.

However the prosecution said April's friend remembered Mr Bridger standing "as though he was waiting for someone".

The friend said when April went to the car "the man did not carry her into the car. April got in herself, by herself" and was described as "smiling".

The jury was told Mr Bridger's computer contained images of child sex abuse as well as photographs of local children. His computer records also showed he had an interest in child murder cases.

Search terms Mr Bridger used on his computer included "naked young five year old girls" and "nudism five-year-old".

He had images of high-profile murder cases, including the Soham victims Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman on his computer.

I take all of that back, hearing the pathetic and weak defence from this Bridger scumbag it's clear that he murdered that poor little girl and dumped her body god knows where.

They should re-open the Tower Of London just for him.

Vids, i dont think anyone was prepared for the things that have came out. I watch Sky News and the reporters are looking horrified when they speak. Its beyond comprehension to normal people.
I have to say though, i so admire the family for their dignity and strength. How on earth they can listen to that, deserves some respect

I agree about her family, the hell they are going through during this trial, after what they have already been through, I can't get my head around it.
