Exactly.  And with that fact in mind, you have to think that this isn't going to end well, but the poor parents have to hold on to the hope that she will be found safe and well.

poor child and I feel for her parents but I have a feeling it won't end well but until we hear otherwise there's always hope

I guess as well it's easy for us to be armchair commentators.  Maybe I'm a child of my era but I would have thought a five year old child who's got school in the morning should have been in bed or going to bed at that time   but I guess it's different these days and not really my place to say anything.

As her parents thought she was outside with older children, it's possible that they thought she was safe.  Maybe she was making her way back to her house - it takes seconds to snatch a child and children even ones slightly older than April are not the most reliable when giving detailed information so it's going to be a difficult task for the police and them children will be beside themselves thinking they could have done more

I truly do hope she's found safe and well

I thought it was late for her age aswell..one of the neighbours told a news crew that all the children play out together and everyone keeps an eye out for each others children, you can't take for granted that someone else will be looking....

I feel sick even reading about things like this.  I can't bear to think about how her poor parents are coping and even more so how she is coping with wherever she is and whatever is happening

As for the circumstances, I completely understand how a five year old can be still playing outside at 7pm.  I live in a street where around 15 kids between the ages of 4 and 12 play together in the evenings as none are allowed to leave the street so they all gather together and play games.  As the days get darker the smaller kids get called in earlier but, having a 6 year old who loves playing outside, I know it's all too easy to say 'ok, 10 more minutes'.

Depends on the area/street/traffic I suppose.  Some people let their kids, some don't.

Ells the kiddies by me are sometimes out till 9 or 10 pm playing football.  Thing is we live on a main road that is seriously busy 24 hours a day - any man jack could be up and down the road and these kids play in the car parking space outside our houses - often being hidden by the cars.  We had a scare a few months ago when a little dot 4 doors away went missing - she'd also been with older children who'd decided to cross the dual carriage way and continue their game of football (boys and girls) in the car park of a factory across the road.  It turned out she'd followed one of these children home and couldn't keep up with them as her little legs couldn't match the stride of the older child.  She got a fair distance mind and was hiding in garages further up the road.  The sick feeling and then the relief was amazing so I can imagine how the parents of April are feeling.

However, there is no way I would allow my children outside and at 5 years old, they would so not be out that late with dark nights coming closer and you can't guarantee that the children you think are looking after yours will do so  but I suppose things change and parents might see an area as safe - perhaps it's not my place to judge but.......

You cant really think like that, because children would have no freedom. I do know what you are saying tho. The speed this guy moved was unbelievable , but he moved in an area of trust (if it his him). It seems he was known to the Police, which opens up lots of questions. But we dont know yet....x
