So glad it is not just me Saint..........I am dreading the day when human contact with companies is over...........
Like fashion it will come and go
I can see the high street dying a death and then ... someone will open a shop "With a personal feel" that will go down a storm and shops will be the 'thing' again.
Tech has made me rich beyond the dreams of avarice.
Tech is my work
Tech is what drives me
Tech and I are in a symbiotic relationship
Tech knows what I want even before I do
Tech is the light, Tech is the future
Tech is joy
Tech can amuse
Tech can enlighten
Tech delivers
...but apps, can't stand 'em.

.......agree with your last line tho....
Be careful what you rely on @Enthusiastic Contrafibularities
Where they make us grow
And I'm frightened by
The liquid engineers
Like you.
Is sure to fail
I could crawl around the floor
Just like I'm real
Like you.
I want to be You
I could learn to be a man
Like you.
And turn me on
Oh everything is moving.
It's tomorrow they send me
Singing 'I am an American'.
Do you?
If I could make the change
I'd love to pull the wires from the wall
Did you?
And how can I try
Here inside I like metal
Aren't you
Is no-one dies
I'm still confusing love with need.

I like technology up to a point - the internet, my iPad, my iPhone, my laptop but.... in most other things I prefer human contact. I wonât even use those self service tills in supermarkets.

I agree Yogi, I am the same.........but I do (like the fuddy duddy I am) worry about the ease of meeting strangers by young children and the influence they might have on them...................

Yes, thatâs another good reason not to use them.

I suppose parenting has always been hard (and didn't my parents know) and we just have to set roots at a young age for them to want to live by and come back to..............

I know what you mean Saint, but the difference is the internet can sometimes give the illusion of them not being strangers............
Sorry I read your comment wrongly
I thought you meant talking to people face to face
I'm such a dunderhead - I find reading quite tough at times

I can tell you from a solid base of fact that I see far too many cases of stranger grooming of young children. It certainly is a problem and that is why the government is now running a campaign aimed at young children.
It is way too easy to setup a social media account, pretending to be say a young boy or girl, then lure in other children of a similar age. For me the social media companies need to take far greater steps in protecting young and vulnerable children from these types of deception.

I actually like those express tills. If they are used for what they are intended (small number of items) then they work well, what annoys me is those stupid individuals who push through with a trolley full of food. They should be using the larger checkouts.
I'm not convinced that it would put anyone out of work as the main tills and express tills serve different functions, also the supermarkets know their busy and quiet periods and staff accordingly.
Also I think it would be a waste of my time queuing in the big checkouts just to purchase three or four items when people behind me may have a lot more food.
Well, our local supermarket IS doing people out of a job, as far as I can see. They are open from 6 am, but have NO manned tills until 9 am. So if you need some shopping before 9 you HAVE to use the self-service tills.
