I'm not a fan of either of these but the better for me in this particular song is the older woman, not Lydia.
The young girl is too street and her vocal sounds a bit wonky in places.

When they so obviously choose the wrong person to go through I automatically have it in for the other, not a great decision on my part but I just want to see a bit of karmic balance, kind of.

I think this song suits the guy more, the girl's voice sounds a bit weaker as the register is lower than her normal singing voice I suspect.
When she gets to 'noodle' and go up the register she will be better.
He seems to be holding his own for longer.

Yes, I kinda think they have an eye on what is commercial. If we end up with a load of youngsters then it would be more than a coincidence.
