I'm sure I've seen this before but watching with hubby who's not seen it. Every time I see the towers falling and the vast amount of dust that envelopes the people, buildings and streets it always looks like the end of the world. In some ways it was the end of the world as we knew it as so much changed after 9/11

It was hard to believe that operator hung up on that man so abruptly.

I know. I wonder how he feels?

When i started watching it a woman came to my door doing a shopping survey. i opened the door to her but couldn't tear my eyes off the telly. I said "have you seen this" and she said "no" so i said to her to come in and we sat and watched it open mouthed for ages before she left. Quite bizarre really.

I was working for local press at the time and I just remember the whole world just seemed to stop.
There were rumours that there were hijacked planes heading for Heathrow and I remember ringing my mum in a panic telling her to get my son out of school and get the hell away from the area.

It's one thing hearing about terrorist attacks but it's another watching it live and direct. The saddest part for me was watching the second tower fall (North I think, the one with the spike). Just seeing the spike disappear into the smoke and knowing that everything and everyone had gone.

Of the approx 3000 who died only 300 bodies were recovered, one of the most shocking days in recent history

I remember it so clearly, watching those pictures and I still feel sick as the second plane goes into the second tower, you think no it's not going to happen, but it does.

I can remember trying to cook some tea that afternoon, my husband watching the footage on Sky News, I was listening to Talksport who had suspended all regular broadcasting and the grief and fear in their voices was eerie

I remember the rumours about a plane had been hijacked that was heading to Heathrow and also a local rumour that a hijacked plane was also heading for Birmingham International Airport to knock out communcations in the middle of the country, they would have only had to hit one of the motorways and it could so easily have happened.

I felt a sense of fear, that nothing could ever be the same again, that, the world was changing and although it is a really overused phrase, history was being made that day.

RIP to all that lost their lives that day, may you have found some peace

Remember hearing about the first hit on the radio, switched on the TV and thought it was a very bad accident............... until I watched the second plane hit.................
Then knew it was terrorism........

That's pretty much how I knew about it; heard the radio and immediately turned on the tv.
And you're right - the eerie sight of that 2nd plane hitting the tower is something I will never forget...probably because it was 'live'

Watching the programme last night (some of the clips have been shown before I think as they seem familiar...?)....I can't say time has eased the horror or distress of this awful murder.

I remember that day very clearly too. Soooooooooo shocking.

The towers collapsing is an image I'll never ever forget - the thing is we see it all very muted and therefore dont't get the full sound. Can't imagine the noise it must have made .......it must have been collossal!

I was at the top of the South Tower 5 years previously to the 9/11 in the restaurant.I hated it I had overpowering feelings of the building collapsing, but not of a plane striking it,just of it collapsing.I was so relieved to get back on the street again.

you can watch it on 4OD Smiler

i watched this late late night/this morning and, have to say i dind't pay as much attention back then as i should (i think the amount of media coverage dumbed it down tbh). last night, seeing it as it happened was horrifying! especially a bit where you're looking at the firemen looking at people jumping/falling. you can hear a woman scream then a bang Frowner
