've been thinking about getting an e-reader lately. I've got a few books cluttering up the place and like Issy, I'm trying to clear too
NOOOOOOO

Books lovely lovely books - the smell , the excitment, the rustle of the pages.. the spilling of food all over them. You can curl up with a book and then you can give them away to a charity shop to let someone else have the joy of them.

But I'll give what I've got away, tidy up in doing so and can have more than one book on the go at the same time  Not that I ever read much now you understand

Whose truth? Or the truth as he sees it? Cos no one actually knows the truth. We can disprove the Bible - i am not disputing that. We can disprove organised religion - I am not disputing that. BUT we cannot disprove whether there is a higher being..... we can make assumptions, but we cannot disprove it categorically.

It really isn't the role of science to disprove anything - aside from the fact it is technically impossible.

I can't say any old thing then expect it to be accepted because you cannot disprove it.  The onus, surely, is for the plaintive to prove, not the other way around?

As for Richard Dawkins having a pitiful life, somehow I rather doubt that.

Ah but looking at this metaphysically is anything impossible and categorically not real?
Don't get me wrong Bateman I am not saying that God is a little old man sitting on a cloud and neither am I a Bible basher... I just believe in something... and there are so many things that cannot be disproved - just hypotheses made.

Lack of proof does not provide a vacuum into which anyone can just fling their own half-arsed ideas with no empirical evidence and expect them to be accepted.  Unfortunately some people in our world - quite a few people - seem to think it is.
I am going to read the God Delusion because I cannot say anymore as I am only going what I have seen of the man and read.
Once  I have read it and can give a proper informed opinion, I look forward to continuing our discussion.
Everyone else will fall asleep , but we won't care.

I loved St Clares as well BUT Malory Towers had a little bit more oomph to it.,
I still have all my Enid Blyton books. I loved The naughtiest girl series, Betsy May, etc.

I read some of them to my children. The wishing chair, and the faraway tree. Still have all my originals, but i have a hobby of keeping  stuff that is collectable.

I am the same Evelyn - to me certain books need to be kept. Both mine loved Enid Blyton - they are the ultimate comfort blanket.
