I use it but I am so bored with it now! They've upgraded it so many times that it's really only enjoyable and fast moving if you have a really good graphics card in your PC. I've been using it for the past 3 or 4 years and I've made online friends with some nice people there, but yeah there have been a LOT of RL relationships ruined because of it. There was a program about it on TV one night (cant remember what channel) and one woman left her hubby and kids in America to move to the UK to be with her SL lover in RL!! Then when that didnt work out, the poor American hubby took her back Frowner Poor guy! Anyways, if you're a fan of the Sims and have a good GC, I'd reccomend checking it out. It's worth it for the "game play" and graphics quality alone.

i remember that prog! i'd never even heard of second life until then, and i'm not a stranger to online gaming lol.

i think it probably ruins relationships cos...well...doesn't seem to be much else to do on that 'game'. in real life people are obsessed about meeting someone and settling down etc etc. so when they play second life, they do it all again. saeemingly forgetting they are already taken.

yeah that seems to be the case. Dont get it myself to be honest, coz when I'm with someone, I'm with them totally. For example, I love my OH so much (yeah, gag inducing I know! LOL) that the thought of fancying anyone else enough to even consider cheating on him is just alien concept to me.

What I enjoyed most about SL was collecting "freebies" (clothes, houses, furniture etc) and basically playing dress up doll with clothes I could never afford or never wear in RL! Laugh But like I said, am bored with it now

i play EQ2 mostly (though quit recently to dabble in WoW) so there is more to do in those games. well not so much WoW but in EQ2 you get houses and crafting and stuff as well as the adventure gaming. i wasn't really into that but my OH loved decorating the guild hall/castle. shame he doesn't do that in RL Mad

never come across peeps trying to have cyber sex in EQ2..but in WoW...it's full of honry teens trying to get off Eeker (not played for few days lol)

i think they need more to do Ninja

i also dont see how it goes, but spose people start flirting, have a 'cyber' relationship then want more Confused

the woman in that prog seemed a RIGHT bitch though...those poor kids and hubby
Darthhoob
You're right Darthoob - she was off her f**king trolley! Sitting home all day playing loved up partner while her genuinely nice and good RL partner faffed around after her, looking after their kids, cleaning their home, buying her stuff with the money he earned (coz she sat on her fat ass all day doing nowt!!) and yet still adored her! Poor guy!
Fifi29
i wanted to throw ice cold water all over the guy to wake him up lol. she played that game for at least 14 hours a day...kids n hubby ignored! her hubby even knew she had a second life boyfriend. i just felt sad for how low his self esteem must have been....and those of the kids, as they were old enough to notice. one was a teenage boy wasn't he?

The internet can be very addictive and dangerous. I have heard many a tale of people looking up old flames on friends reunited or facebook, who they dated for a year in 1980 when they were 15, and they end up leaving their partner of 25 years who they have kids and grandkids with and everything, to shack up with this old flame. It rarely works out though; many people have thrown away everything and ruined the lives of many, for their stupid little flings. Shake Head

That's all I do really. Build stuff, buy stuff (quite a lot of shoes) and go dancing. Some really good music played in some places. Big Grin I also teach there a couple of times a year.

I have a few real life friends who I meet up with there too which can be fun...especially when my mate Dave comes in as 'Gabriella'; he's worryingly good. Disappointed

I teach A Level Media Studies as well as English and was researching a new topic on 'the impact of e-media' when I came across this article:

How avatars have sex?

Put me off Second Life I must say! I still enjoy playing Sims1 but mainly to build houses and decorate them. I get bored when they have to make friends and keep them to progress. I'm such an anti-social beggar! Laugh
