I love lillies, but agree the scent is a bit overwhelming. Reminds me of funerals Crazy

I think they are the 'stems' not sure, but they are a bugga if you get them on ya clothes. Someone told me if you do get them on you, don't rub it, just put sellotape over the mark.

Ooooh housekeeping tips Laugh

Yes: the scent reminds me of Tennyson's poem 'The lotus eaters' which I studied, many years ago, for 'O' level English Literature.

Would you like me to recite some of the lines?
Would you like me to mention some of the other poems I studied?

Please do, but I probably won't understand a word of it Laugh

I wouldn't buy lillies myself, but they are often central to many arrangements given for birthdays/anniversaries etc.

Just thought I'd mention it, as we are a nation of pet lovers Smiler

My late Mother hated lilies - those white 'arum?' (sp?) lilies. I do like the prettier ones but their stamens cause havoc if they touch anything so they should be snipped out - apparently. the perfume is lovely initially but they can give me a sick headache when they become too much. My eldest son however did buy me some 'Persian lilies' from M&s two weeks ago and they're still going strong, they don't smell but are so pretty and don't stain anything they touch.

I love Bluebells.
