I reckon she's hiding up the leylandii.
She's probably got the strimmer out, giving it a quick tidy-up.
Yes.....

I would of course love to show Ditty's best side! And would love to air her garden on tv. It really would be great to hear from you Ditty.
Aw you sound lovely & all that.. but I have no desire to be on telly.. also, much as I dislike her trees, I don't dislike my neighbour.
I may drop you a line... I just need to think about it first (& consult MrDitty)...
but there will be no ditty garden on the telly

*raises eyebrow*
Manually
Manually
yes, manually
morning banana!!!!!!!
oooh I say!
It's an early riser!
I realise I should be paying attention to the banana.... but it's the area that is getting my attention. Huh????

Me too, actually!
Might be a reference to Ditty's shaded area?
hahahahaha!
I had to resurrect this thread cos the documentary Lisa Landmark was making has just been on the tellybox (well I assume it was her documentary.. it was about Leylandii's & neighbour disputes)..
Hedge Wars it was called!
I watched it hoping for covert tree killing tips.. but there weren't any
My neighbours trees are still there, still growing.. they are way way way taller than the houses now.
Caught some of that Ditty.. Nasty business, especially that naturalist in Keighley
I'll bet there are a lot of us with stories of Lleylandi ....................I have one (took over my life for a while) far too long and boring to go in to though.
Funny how trees can cause such drama!

I know!!
there was just no need for it! And that dog... omg that dog!
I have concerned about that blokes dog.. it seemed to think that Daddy being nekkid in the plastic garden chair meant time to sit on daddys lap!!!
If it were him that lived next door I would be wanting the leylandii to stay too!

Lol
I just thought about whether its nails had been clipped
That would have been hard to explain at the A and E

Thankfully, my only story is that it doesn't burn very well and it spits like a bugger
Ultimate sympathy I have with you. I have moved house after years of having been subjected to bullying in the form of high trees on the south side of my house.
I even paid good money to get the council onside. The neighbours received an A S B O.
I highly recommend that you offer to PAY for the trees to be docked by a professional.
As soon as you fall out with next door they will learn the art of bullying by ignoring your concerns. Beware !!!!

Wow, how did this get bumped back up after 3 months?!
Do you still have the problem Ditty?
Hello Philip Baldwin - are you new? If so, welcome.
Sparkles - maybe Philip did a search on Leylandii and this thread came up! I find myself all over the place in strange fora sometimes when I do a search for something or other
I'm never brave enough or crazy enough to join them though haha. We should lock the door and keep poor Philip here with us!
I too have ended up on random forums! It would be nice if philip decided to stay ...........we do talk about trees but not all the time!
Philip ...........have a wander around on here .................we don't bite!

Hi veggie.... You could be right. I just wondered how a thread came up from 3 months ago. It must have been buried rather deep in the forum bowels. Also was curious about the leylandii issue. It must be so hard for someone suffering them, because it's not easy to just hoik them down because they are MASSIVE! maybe 20 odd feet high. The neighbour 2 doors from us has 22 to 25 feet Leylandii and the neighbour is is joined onto hates them.. Luckily they are far away enough from us to not affect us. The trees are about 100 feet away.
You too Soozy? It must be an occupational hazard of the keen googler I reckon.
The places I end up often haven't been posted in for years. You can almost feel the cobwebs as you look round

Must admit Veggie, if I found somewhere random that hasn't had a post for half a year or more, I wouldn't bother posting there. this doesn't apply here of course
Yep... the trees are still there..
still growing... I am crap at estimating heights... but hubby reckons they are pushing 40 ft now.
She needs to get them lobbed NOW... before spring, before the birds start nesting in them.
OMG Ditty, that is utterly unacceptable! Is that even legal?!

Awwwwwww Ditty - we lobbed our huuuuuuuuge trees (many years ago) in a July - there were baby birds in nests in there (we didn't give it too much thought TBH). It's not nice to put baby birds out of a home
oh I dunno...
tbh, I can't even be bothered to get worked up about it at the moment... our dog is ill and in the grand scheme of things right now I really couldn't care less about the trees....
I will of course regret saying this in the summer when (hopefully... really really hopefully) my dog is back to his old self & we are sitting in a garden with no sun & loads of brown leylandii debris all over me lawn
Ditty, we should have a tree killing flashmobbing - that'll sort them out.
Sparkles - I know. I never post in any of the strange places I end up. There's a tiny bit of me that worries it will trigger some bad mojo - like a version of the Ring or summat
Hope that you dog is better soon Ditty. It's so worrying when they are ill.
We don't have animals at present but it broke my heart every time one was ill - or worse.
Ta Veggie...
its been going on for months now.. we're going back to the specialist vet next week where he is going to have mylograms & MRI's... enough is enough... time to find out what the hell is wrong with my baby

Hey Ditty. have you spoke to this person about this? Sorry I just havent read the thread thoroughly. If not, i would check when you feel better and your dog is better if there is a law against this.
I can only deal with one big issue at a time... anymore and I get really freaked out
Sooooo... dog first... then I'll tackle the trees

there is some legal stuff about them.. but we would have to pay to get the council involved....
plus, we actually quite like this neighbour.. but don't know her well.
I think she's as strapped for cash as we are as well (they don't seem to have a sofa at the moment... there is garden furniture in their lounge )
I go through phases of the tree's really doing my head in... but right now isn't one of those phases I'm such a here & now kinda person.. its winter... the tree's aren't bothering me... so I will stick my head in the sand til the summer
Awwww, well i hope it will all be OK Ditty.. As you said, maybe the summer will bother you more when the trees block the sun... that is what it's like for my neighbour a few doors away. Hope your dos is OK soon. Gotta fly now. Take care. You too veggie xxx
