Did your daughter ever apply for Operation Raleigh? I knew a girl who did that, she said it was amazing and of course, its extremely legitimate!!! It was quite hard to get onto it as I remember. Your daughter with all her achievments sounds like the type of gal who'd be accepted on to it.

The girl I knew got a Raleigh Bursary Award to go on an expedition - you can see it listed on the right hand side of this link.

I endorse everthing roger said. My daughter went with Raleigh International to Costa Rica and Nicaragua 12 years ago. It's the best established organisation apart from VSO.
