we've only got 2 years cos we're the lower school...but you're looking at feeding around 200 kids who come in for lunch (hot or cold dinners) plus staff....then around 150 for hot food/cold at break as well.

so it's all systems go!!

On Tuesday? Eeker

They're keen your way aren't they? Big Grin

My bestie is a primary school teacher and is whinging about going back on Thursday after her 6 weeks off have really "flown by"". **drums fingers and growls**

My two aren't back for another week.

That's good at least we get a bank holiday before we return. Last year we started on the Monday...so it doesn't seem so bad this time.Big Grin

6 weeks has really flown by...I agree with her.Nod Ninja

My boy starts Thursday and my girl Friday....what a stupid day to start school...harumph!!

Mine are going into Years 9 and 10.

Apparently they didn't have 2 inset days at the end of last year so have to take them at the beginning of this.Confused So tomorrow is bank holiday, Tuesday and Wednesday are delayed inset days. The school have Year 7 and the sixth form back earlier so they are in Thursday. It's "pointless" opening the school for the rest for just the one day so all back next Monday.

Seems to me best to have them in on Friday to sort out timetable issues (there always are some) and registration etc then kick off properly on Monday.

But what do I know? Big Grin

All packed lunches. Packed lunches in brown paper bags are dropped for the kids that parents can't afford.

Leftovers go to staff room....I've even seen the head with a brown bag.Big Grin

down here they're introducing hot dinners in every school...either prepared on the premises or elsewhere

course now we have to write down the calorific value, protein etc etc in everything we do...

Crikey...rather you than me.Eeker

I think my mum can relate....she was a catering manager in a hospital for many many years before Labour closed them.

Nope. Son starts his GCSE's this year. He's 15 in a week's time - one of oldest in year. Daughter is a year behind him.

Does she have any clue what she wants to do? After dithering with naval architecture (designing boats) he's now switched to forensic/behavioural psychology. I blame Lie To Me and The Mentalist. Big Grin

If you want to work woih kids...whatever the level.....there are openings from full time mum upwards.

If you love your job spongey...thats great....takes a team to raise a kid...but how dare anyone even imply you can't do a classroom post.I know teachers who started as pot cleaners in preschool. If you want it dont let anyone tell you its not possible xx
