a friend of mine is an educational psychologist and is head of - well I'm not sure of the title - but she is in charge of all the provision for the kids with problems at a local school in a bad catchment area.
She finds it exhausting but really rewarding - and she is always bigging up the TA's.
She keeps trying to get me to give it a go as she thinks I would be great at it, but I don't have the patience anymore.
Not to mention having to deal with the parents

We have a lady that does that in our school as well, I don't know what her title is either. She's one of the nicest people in the school and the kids are very lucky to have her.

You should give it a go, we don't deal with parents at all, only teachers and heads do.

I still don't think I have the patience anymore tbh. I used to sit her kids and one of them ( he was adopted) had all sorts of problems. they could never keep a babysitter until me.
He's 19 now and still calls me his second mum lol

Not for a teacher assistant. It's all about whether you have the right personality traits they want, well it was in my case.

And a clean CRB. Big Grin

Plus my kids are/were at the school so have known the place for a few years.

When I applied I was jumped upon by the assistant head....she said you took your time to apply. We've been watching you for a year! Red Face

I used to be a parent helper in my children's classes in primary school - used to go in one afternoon a week.

LSAs are amazing - there is no way I could cope with all those children all the time.

Have a good first few days all you LSAs TAs and, of course, teachers.

And, if you teach my daughter, please make her pass her GCSEs this year. Ta Thumbs Up
