That was incredibly helpful of you.
I was hoping for specifics.
Sorry, I had to go and get the camera back out as I couldnt member off the top of my head.

And now the answer is at the bottom of page 1.
Very cool!! And a regular camera with a tripod! Did you do a long exposure or anything like that?
No, just regular snapping.
I went out at 1am...it was very clear and bright, went out again after three and it was just starting to change colour, That's if I got the time right...no glasses on I could even be 10 hours out
No, just regular snapping.
Pretty amazing! Makes me wish I had tried a picture or two.
I'm so pleased I did Lori, really pleased with them. I've recently bought a telescope that attaches to the iPhone and you can use it for photography & video, I think I might learn how to use it properly now.

It was after three when the eclipse started for us. It was lovely but bloody freezing.
Although Odd Kid wasn't that impressed, Lord only knows what he was expecting, probably the moon wearing top hat & tap dancing across the sky.
Cool! I've heard of that...Just imagine what you could do with THAT!
When I went to Turkey a few years ago, I had some instructions from a photographer friend on how to take long-exposure photos at night, and I was really pleased with the way a couple of my attempts turned out. I think they are some of my best photos.
Your photographs are beautiful, Cinds.
I tried to take a couple myself but they weren't too good. I found that the camera wobbled around and I couldn't get a good, stable picture. I think that the reason was a lack of a tripod. Someone told me the advantages of one of these things but I never really appreciated their advice until last night. (The fact that I had downed a good few glasses of Aussie Shiraz probably didn't help, either).

That would be about right Cinds, I think it was about 3.20 when I went out and you're just about straight across from me
The detail in your pics is great, Cinds.
I fell asleep just before the colour change but saw the big moon and the eclipse.
Cinds!!
Those are incredible photos!! What'd you take them with??
A camera. :nods:
I would have responded the same Cinds.
Am trying to upload one of my photos but don't seem to be able to manage it. Just getting a message saying the following:
Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?
Did you attempt to upload a photo without putting any text in the reply? That would probably result in that error.
Hello, Lori. Thanks for replying
I did put some text in. Also the photo was massive and I tried to re-size it before submitting. It all looked fine but I must have done something wrong somewhere
Ahhhh, I see. That error message doesn't match up with the actual issue, which is is that, if you want to upload photos, you need to be a VIP member (premium member).
If you want to upload photos, they'd have to be hosted someplace else (on the internet) and then you can post them like you do other images.
Sorry about that weird error message - I'll investigate and report that!
Madame, I just sent you a PM, so we can work through this issue.
Ah, so that's it. Thanks for investigating anyway, Lori.

I tend to upload my pics to www.photobucket.com, then you can post the link from there in to the photo bit here. Voila.
Thanks, Cinds
Here is one of my efforts. It isn't exactly what I'd planned but I'm not entirely displeased with it
Yay! You did it!
That's a nice shot, Madame. Looks kinda spooky...
Thanks, Lori. Took me several goes but managed it eventually!
Yes, the picture is a bit spooky. It was quite a clear night then some clouds drifted across the sky and created this. I was just lucky enough to click the camera button at the right time.
In the original photo the bit surrounding the moon is bluer so it looks even eerier
My friend took this picture. She has a nice camera a big, fancy lens, but it took her about 15 minutes and a lot of clicks before she got the right shot.
That is breath-taking, Lori.
That's a great one Lori.
The crater at the bottom always makes me think of the moon as a really large orange. That night it was a blood orange.
Yes! Me, too!
That's a great one Lori.

That photo just made me think the same!
Some great photos in here. I gwoke up at 3 am and saw it partially eclipsed - thought I'd snooze for 10 minutes and see it red. Woke up with the alarm at 6 a.m.
Some fantastic photos have been posted above
I found this one on the BBC website taken by a Randell John (according to the BBC) which was shot through some foliage at Bridgend:
Ooooh that is gorgeous el.

I hate to admit, I was just too excited to sleep. Although I had put the alarm on just in case I did fall asleep. Luckily for me I'm a rubbish sleeper, so the thought of it kept me awake anyway.

I meant to say earlier, I took over 300 photos that night, once I'd uploaded them all from the camera & sorted them, I reckon I kept around 20 decent shots.
Aren't digital cameras the best thing??
Thanks, Cinds

A very atmospheric shot, Madame.
