Hmmm off to ebay to see if they might have one.

(This thread has given me the guilts now)

I've got a lovely carving knife which has a matching fork - except for the fact that they no longer look like a 'set'.  The knife is in perfect condition - the fork has NO handle whatsoever and really should be thrown in to the bin.  Trouble is, the fork has perfect, really thin tines that can skewer through a joint like a needle through butter.  It's the bestest fork ever and I can't seem to find one anything like it as a replacement.

What the fruitloop am I doing discussing forks and knives at 11.50pm on a Tuesday night?

Missis, I dunno where you are, but change your clock if it needs to be. it's only 22.57 in England

What do you do for mashed taties? Now there's another thing - potato mashers - my husband took mine to work (we are in catering) it got lost - I'll be buggered if I can find a decent potato masher since!

I'm an hour in front of you, Sprouty.

This will be convenient for such times like birthdays - I'll just hop on a plane and instantly become an hour younger

Is anyone here left handed?  Have you tried any of the specially made utensils for such wrong handed needs?  I think I may have to buy my daughter a few items as she's completely useless at peeling etc.

Oh hang on.....!  She's just using it as an excuse, huh?

Most probably worn thin over the years of her lovingly and comfortably peeling potatoes for you, until it was snatched away from her before it's time..............

My cutlery drawer is a right mish mash ... I've got cutlery with yellow handles, from when the kitchen was blue and yellow, cutlery with pink handles, from when the kitchen was pink, white handles, from when we had black and white wallpaper on one wall, and lots of plain cutlery with no plastic handles.

We have got a posh canteen of cutlery, but I don't like using that coz it can't go in the dishwasher

The kitchen is purple now ... must put purple cutlery on my Christmas list ...

A potato ricer is your (soon to be) new best friend, Soozy.

I've often wondered about them - are they good?

How boring are we?

Maybe I'll ask my mum to get me one for Christmas - I asked for a kitchen blow torch last year - it's still in its box unused

I may do Creme Brulee at Christmas - or Baked Alaska maybe.

I was just thinking the same!

Do any of you have those apostle teaspoons? - I have one or two - they were my mums - I'm sure they were really special to her- perhaps I should have taken more care.

I'd have done that

Although, I would have probably given it to my daughter, who would have sold it on ebay ... that's how she's funding her university, collecting stuff from rellies that they don't want and selling it

Very good, Soozy!  They make lovely smooth mash

How boring are we?

We'll be ok as long as no one starts talking about watching paint dry

Let's consider it more of a fact finding mission:  Sprout doesn't eat mashed tatties, Ells has no conscience whatsoever and Rexi is lazy (won't wash up) but accessorises beautifully.

Give up and go find a nice pair of shoes;  it'll lessen the guilt and make you feel so much better
