Having watched the video, it got me thinking. Seeing as we are a very consumer orientated society and that technology plays a massive part. What can we do to almost give us a reality check a mental kick in the pants so to speak.

...and I came up with this.

All the mobile phone companies should turn off their systems for one week, the same week, let's call it "Mobile Free Week". That weeks payment you make can be a donation to charity - so a win/win.

Let's face it, before the complete saturation of mobile phone in our society we used to go to a phone box or make plans in person. It's not life or death not using your phone for a week.

and there was a lot of lonely people EC, you don't have to trail out hail, rain or snow to speak to someone if you need to chat, and there are lots of people who see their mobile as there only form of communication, which in past times some people didn't have. I could do without mine easily for a week, but some couldn't and shouldn't

And there are still lots of lonely people that have mobiles. There are lots of lonely people who have cars, who have money, who have partners, who have pets, who have the Internet.

The invention and proliferation of the mobile did not cure loneliness - who knows, there could be more lonely people out there right now.

Don't get my point misinterpreted - the idea was for a week, not a lifetime.
