Nope it was exactly the same. My CPU isnt up to it or something. I cant try it on anything else coz this is the best machine in the house.

Selected "The Sims 3 PC" .. agreed to a small download and then in about a minute it told me I could play Sims but only just


Reading umpteen comments (and there are an awful lot) most seem to relate to video cards/drivers as well as suggestions about cooling the laptop to taking some of the settings down from high to medium (what ever they are)

It does seem to get very hot when it's on, but it loads no bother and when it works it plays fine, not jumpy or anything...but as soon as the Sim starts to interact with other ones then it crashes...you can hear it go wrooooooo then it just goes off.

When I tried to do the system check the other day it wouldnt load

I'll see if thats the same one.

Not the same one but it wouldnt work.

Odd that it won't load... not sure if that is a clue in itself.. I'll have a think

That makes sense.. it is a java application.. it seems from reading around that there are people out there who build PCs specifically to play Sims 3 .. on the bright side the circus film is on soon

I was looking at People of the Earth before Mr N. Did you watch Human Journey about the Americas? Was looking to see what they said in POTE about it.

I did watch it... once she did her usual trick of adjusting the climate to suit the period in question from the present day impassable ice/sea/desert.. looked like a gap opened up all the way down the continent... I need to watch it again on iPlayer though

The gap theory doesnt work coz there are remains that predate that forming....but she did come up with a plausible alternative that didnt involve having to travel across the pacific.

I might watch the whole thing again...

Well I made a start

Bizarre... just opened a large envelope with my name and company address on a label stuck on top of the usual transparent window bit.... from Newcastle Uni offering a place to study Post Grad in Operations Management and Logistics (whatever that is) .. actual offer letter inside is addressed to someone in the same town. Phoned the uni... it looks like somewhere in the postal system ... near to me... a sticky label has come off one envelope and managed to stick itself to the window of this one... the main reason for suspecting that is that my address is printed in an odd order... road then house details .., which is common in stuff I get coming from Europe...
