To me expressions like this say 'I don't care about Scotland and it's population (and it's future generations)....I don't like Salmond, therefore I will vote against anything he advocates, come what may!

but that presupposes that Katty would support independence if someone else was in charge.    George Clooney, Nelson Mandela or Han Solo could lead the party for me and I'd still not be voting for it.   I also don't like Salmond, but that doesn't colour my opinion on the debate.

No, it presupposes that the person(s) making statements like that would vote on whether they liked a person, rather than what they thought of the subject.

Katty never said her only reason for voting No was her dislike of Salmond. Why would you make that assumption?

I agree Yogi.. I dislike him but more importantly, all that he stands for.

I suggest you read the thread  because you will then see that Katty(name amended) has many reasons for voting 'no' the fact that Salmond is an arrogant egotistical bastard is just in addition .For your information I do worry about the future of Scotland and the next generation ....IT'S FOR THAT REASON I  WILL BE VOTING NO!! .

Blanket statements have been written regarding the SNP and they have been written as fact , I and anyone else reading them have every right to challenged them and not be accused of making someone dereg,using your words  that's how the statement from Scotty came across to me .

Erin, I am confused by this post. You site Kaffs, but I was specifically asked about Katty. I'm not sure what Scotty's post has to do with how a statement makes ME feel.

I still don't understand how 'anyone' stating they dislike Salmond and that they will be voting No, leads you to the assumption that their vote is based solely on their dislike of Salmond.

Sorry, but I made no assumption about anyone. I expressed how a statement like that COMES ACROSS TO ME. You know, my opinion.

because it's easier than debating the 'real' issues. Now if Salmond wheels out Moira then it's understandable if people vote no because they don't like her.

I am sure Salmond will keep Moira well away from the campaign,if we see her at all .

Granted that's your opinion but what an assumption to make!!!! that people who don't like Salmond are voting no and they don't care about Scotland and it's population and future generations

this thread has shrunk a lot.. or I've lost the plot somewhere along the way . .probably the latter

I sometimes worry that this issue is so devisive that it might destroy friendships. I was listening to one debate the other night and somebody brought this up and it got me thinking that I won't discuss it with family and friends in Scotland.
