That sounds like the best idea for me as I have never used things like Groupon or wanted to anyway.

Groupon is quite high profile.  You bid for 'experiences' like a meal at a restaurant, a weekend break or a trip to a health farm etc.  The appeal is that you are one of a batch of people buying the same service and benefit from the buying power of Groupon who've generated that demand and those customers.  Groupon get the commission, the business gets the trade and you get the discount. Amazon Local is on the same business model.
