I think today's schedule for Film 4 is exceptional. All About Eve (IMDB rating 8.5) is followed by The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (8.1) and then the David Lean version of Oliver Twist (7.9) . Then the late night films are The Seventh Seal (8.4) followed by Once upon a Time in the West (8.8). All major classics.

Other older classic films on Film 4 this week include:

Wednesday 15:

Heaven Can Wait 11.00 am (the original version rather than the Warren Beatty one)

Great Expectations  4.40 pm (the David Lean version)

Pather Panchali  1.00 am on Thursday (the first film in a trilogy, don't know if the others are due to be shown. An exceptional Indian film and is as far removed from Bollywood film as it is possible to be)

Thursday 16:

The Green Ray 11.00 am (for those who like Eric Rohmer's films)

My Darling Clementine 12.55 pm

A Matter of Life and Death 2.45 pm

The Conformist  1.20 am on Friday (early Bernardo Bertolucci film)

Friday 17:

Laura 1.15 pm

Plenty of other good films but these are the best of the older films. Of the more modern films, I think The Duelists on Thursday 7.00 pm is the most interesting. This is Ridley Scott's first film and is rarely shown.

Apologies in advance if there are any errors in the timings or Film 4 changes its schedule.
