I think I would have to change my entire personality in order to be able to say I'd do as the MP's have done, I guess that goes for anyone else who is up in arms with this debacle.

I've thought about it quite alot since the story burst into the news, and I have discussed it at length with various people, and I really don't think it would occur to me to do as they have done.

If something is within my budget, I buy it, if it is not, I save for it. I am comfortable with that way of living, it gives me piece of mind.

I wouldn't be comfortable if I had a considerable salary, and priviledged lifestyle, and then not pay for the things I decided to provide for myself and my family.

To me, this bunch of sorry specimins need taking to the tower without further ado. I do not wish to hear their wishy-washy excuses for being corrupt. They are fraudulent and I'd like to see the full strength of the law come down upon them, the same as it would with you or I.

In short, they have extracted the urine on a monumental scale and it's unacceptable. Mad

It's not exactly a "rule" that they can calaim for anything and everything, but a system that's allowed many to blatantly take advantage of that system, and then be backed up by those who sanction it. To me things like claiming for a mortgage that was paid up is tantamount to fraud. Things like claiming for top range wide screen tv's is taking advantage, as so many other claims are. Would I do that? no I wouldn't, I have a concience and if I was an MP I'd assume my duty was to them not to me, which is why I'm not an MP lol.

I have to agree with you ..................if nothing else this whole fiasco has opened up a can of worms..................sickening as it is - most of them hadn't enfringed or broken any rules .............it's now quite clear that the rules need re writing with far stricter guidelines.

well obviously claiming for an already paid mortgage is illegal and as i said at the start is a whole different kettle of fish - but I don't really believe that anybody could honestly say they would not claim for an expensive tv if it was within the rules and they thought they would get away with it!!

We'd all like to think we would be more honest but to be truthful for the majority of people I very much doubt that they would be!!

Who said they're meant to be more noble than us? Where is that written ........in the grand scheme of things they don't earn a fraction of those high up in industry/banking/finance etc. - that doeasn't excuse anything I know but .............if it's in their remit to claim expenses the ..........surely they will.

How are MP's nobler than the common man?

The thing that gets me is they get paid roughly ÂĢ60,000 a BBC news reader gets ÂĢ92,000 - that to me is just wrong!!!

Oh Lawdy!

Switch to something fun, before it's too late. Latin, higher mathematics.... Just save yourself!

(well done - how's it going? Dull as ditchwater, innit? )

Big Grin It is a very 'dry' subject and it is challenging. I remember telling you about it two years ago. I couldn't decide on Psychology or Law. I am doing 'intention' and recklessness at the moment. I have an assignment but I think my clients would all end up in jail lol. Nice to see you again. Big Grin

I saw that interview where the MP asked what the news reader earned. I too was shocked. I didn't even know who she was! Laugh

that's what i thought - imagine what the ones who we actually know are earning - to me when you look at it like that MPs are grossly underpaid!!

An idealistic thought I've had that I KNOW will never happen, but, why don't the public realise they have more power than they know or use. There are millions more gp than MP's so why not get the message across to MP's by not voting next time they have a chance to, that would say far more than anything else to get the message across. Silence often says more than a thousand words. Will it happen? of course not, people are programmed and like sheep most of the time.
