Can I be honest, I had never heard of the term sand dancer until I joined ch4 and spoke to Leccy.  I suppose that's us Durham people all cosseted by the Cathedral.

She's alreet, or sumitt. 

She needs a good crowd of supportive people to help her fight against the hard faced nobodies. I think sand dancer is a reference to lower south shields. The sand blows in across the roads and paths and walking across it is like sand dancing. A north east Wilson Betty and Keppel. Then of course we have pit yackers, mackems, and monkey hangers, and those I've Missed you'll surely pardon.

I do agree that the poor lass is being pretty much ignored.  She ain't the prettiest choccie in the box and looks like a trucker, so maybe she is quiet coz she feels intimidated by the other girls looks..(except tashie who i think is a bit of a moose.)

She's quite pally with Tom,looks like the "beautiful " people..pukes! don't want to hang out with them.

This looks like being the last post of the night so can I just say how disappointed I was with the route 66 prog. Years ago one would see tv progs entitled Floyd on this, Floyd on that. They turned out to be cooking stuff presented by some washed up pisshead and not music presented by the rocking teenage combo, Pink Floyd. Likewise tonight I was looking forward to Cumbria, the Lakes, Penrith Market, Stainmoor, Bowes Museum, the railway, Stockton (if they're not on pasties they're on smack) Middlesbrough (if they are not on Parmoes they're on crack) and South Bank ( if they are not on smack they're on pasties) But it was another route 66.
