I dropped me Sat nav - screen not physically cracked but visually half the screen aint working (can't see it)

BUT all the functions - even the buttons that cannot be seen are working.

Maps load - voice still caresses me to the destinations.

So i ask thee - can it be saved   -  can Garmin replace the screen?

Yes, the screen can be replaced, but it is usually more expensive than buying a new one.

If you feel like trying it yourself, check out ebay for replacement screens, then hunt for a tear-down to help you.

I would wager its cheaper and less time consuming to get a new one. Most mobile phones can be used as sat navs these days. I use my Samsung Galaxy S3 for my travels.

Personally, for ÂĢ20 I would give it a go at replacing the screen. The caveat being that I can find a tear-down so that I know what to unplug and what to unscrew or you could be left with a few spare parts

Let us know what you do and if you do try replacing how it went (with pictures)

Have a go at replacing it yourself rather than paying someone else? There's bound to be demonstration  videos online to show you what to do.

I've replaced several laptop and netbook screens myself and saved a fortune.

Try to find a cheaper repair

or

Buy one from Ebay - already bookmarked one on offer for ÂĢ30

You can list your device on ebay as working with faulty screen. Some people look out for devices they can repair and sell on. You may get some cash back. Definitely worth a go.

It looks v. simple and similar to replacing a netbook screen.

Bet you anything you can do it Saint  I'm kackhanded and even I could do it.

I repaired a bathroom tap which was not letting much water out using an instructional video on YouTube. I was well chuffed when it all worked. Cost of a plumber would have been a fair bit I imagine.
