Well yesterday i was reading through a booklet Jamie had from his drink driving course. Reading through it and looking and units and recomended amounts. I discovered that in the eyes of the government i am a alcoholic. Scary word, but it got me thinking. There are some dangerous patterns i have started to fall into and the amount i have been drinking has been on my mind for a while. Coming from a mostly alcholic family i think its time i dried up completely. So giving it a go as from now.

For anyone who is curious i was drinking nearly 5 times the recomended weekly allowance. This is classed as damaging.
Scarey stuff considering i havn't got pished in months.

hi kelly i think social drinking has changed over the years to binge drinking for some, but age is par for the course.

I dont! binge drinking is classed as anything above 6 units which is 2 pints or 2 glaases of wine

daft innit? everytime i used to go out, drinking was part of it.. but i loved 'strutting my stuff' so worked it off on the dance floor used to ask for water at that stage.
i worry about my sis, can hear her coming a mile off with all the wine bottles from bargain booze. have told her to seriously think about how much she drinks after work.

See thats where i go wrong. After work i wind down a more than a couple of pints of bacardi and coke

I have a friend who drinks 14 bottles of wine aweek..I think thats about 140 units....

yeah - that's a problem!
mind you going through my memory banks, i have worked as cocktail waitress, carrying trays and walking around for hours and finishing at 4am, it does take time to wind down, cos it's like coming home from a normal days work. and when i did barwork in france, i used to hit the clubs for an hour to wind down, so maybe it's not unusual, just the nature of the job.

I have about 4 vodkas/coke on a friday n about 6 on a saturday but dont think thats a problem at all,i dont drink sun to thurs n dont even want one.

1 25ml shot of spirits = 1 unit so depending on the size of your voka & coke depends how many units you consume but be warned 25ml is tiny!!!
Over 6 units is a binge.

Making the rest of us look bad

I used to drink loads when I was younger but now can't really be bothered...a bottle of vodka last about 6 months in this house...

I only really drink on holiday and at Christmas...

They may say its a binge... but its SO not a binge.... I could show them a binge!!!

(used to drink loads, teenage party drinking, through to clubbing, through to bad day at work bottle of wine on a night drinking. Last year have drastically cut down, mainly due to Volvic Touch of Fruit water, which I like the taste of as much as wine or stella!).

I probably drink a bottle of wine a week now. And whatever the government say, I'm happy with that.
