My boilers packed up. Been paying insurance for five years only to be told - 'only the pipework and radiators are insured. Apparently when the boiler warranty ran out after two years we should have upgraded

I don't think we've ever had a proper/satisfactory outcome on an insurance claim (not that we've made hardly any).

Insurance is a con ..........................my house is a tip - I'm having my hall plastered tomorrow and new carpet on Tuesday so the lounge/hall is upside down and now my utility room/downstairs loo is ransacked.

Never mind ............worse things happen - like Ella being kicked off X Factor.

I feel your pain (and your chill), Soozy.

Our boiler packed up last week.  A song and dance ensued to get various parts for a boiler that is approximately 5 years old.  The zinger was being told that they had loads of parts for my make of boiler...except they were for the newer model.

This time next week it'll all be over and done with; you'll have a nice warm newly decorated home, complete with new carpet

I've learned to get tough .......................after my kitchen I can deal with almost anything.

I just hate having strangers in the house. We're planning the bathroom and an en- suite in the New Year ...................glad I have here to escape to.

I understand that too

It's always a great idea, followed by a pain in the proverbial and then a huge sigh of relief (with added contentedness) when it's over.  Worth it in the end.

That said, I'm never doing the bathrooms or the kitchen ever again!

We're definitely done with this place and are looking slowly towards moving out.
