It's ÂĢ22.50 for the Lobster salad, and ÂĢ25 for the Lobster Thermador. And yeah it is cheap because I get all the fish and shellfish straight off the fish market each day. We price everything fairly and reasonably compared to the likes of JBR (the twonk) who just put the prices up because of their supposed celebrity status. No need to rip people off if you want them to come back again.

All the London restaurants are using fish caught here and from the Brixham markets anyway. Hence why it is more expensive as you have to pay for the transporting of the fish to get up there. Mind you, I had a meal in the crazy bear in Soho in March and not only was it expensive, it was SHITE!!!

Hi langster sending you a big from one side of the county to the other. Go on admit it, aren't we lucky to live in such a beautiful county?

Absolutely. I love Devon, north or south as I love Cornwall as well. We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful area. Mind you, in truth there are loads of pretty areas in the country, but yeah I am biased and think Devon and Cornwall are the prettiest.

BTW I don't look down my nose at anyone, well aside from maybe Lisa. I said in my second or third post that it was written TONGUE IN CHEEK and was a joke. Roll Eyes

crossed with all sorts. lots of them seem to have been descended from drug fuelled hippies who may have gone to live there in communes in the 60's so there is a lot of staring at the sky and muttering going on. Honest.

I think when I said cross breeds I should have said in breeds as well. I found them a strange lot and wow could they moan.

That reply was way more politically correct than I was expecting.

I do like the staring at the sky and muttering image!

I live in a village thats alot like that! You have to be 7th generation or you're an import!

At a recent local meeting (about a planning application... us newbies were 'for'... the long standing villagers were 'against').... it got very heated.. especially when one of us newbies suggested the application would bring local jobs to the village.

The old timers went mental and shouted at us "do you have much Polish in your family" (I kid you not... they actually said that, with the inference that any jobs would go to Polish seasonal workers!)

So, having just returned from a weekend in Poland, hubby has bought a "Polsk" t-shirt... to strutt around the village in! Big Grin

It's definitely 100% NOT like that here. Everyone is a no0b to the area in truth. It's all second homes and holiday homes, well 75% is. So in truth very few are true locals. I am definitely in the minority being born here and still living here. But it's still as pretty as is ever was and everyone is really nice and friendly. They just have more money than a few years ago when it was all people who were born here that lived here.

Sorry Langster I lived and worked there and was made to feel like an outsider, even the comment 'everyone is a noob' shows you view it as 'them and us' with 'us' being the locals who are somehow intrinsically better or more deserving. I found many small minded people there who just seem to moan about everything and was glad to leave.

LOL! It's just the way I said it. Newcomer sound better?

It's beautiful, extremely friendly and to be honest I don't know anyone who doesn't like living here or who moans alot. Everyone who moved here wanted to because they liked it. I think the only real gripe here is the wages to living expenses and house prices ratio. Aside from that, most love it. I know I do.

The talent side is fine, but it's lambing season atm so they are all taken Eeker

It is a beautiful part of the UK..it's just a shame that the roads aren't able to carry the amount of traffic using them..My Parents were born bred and buttered in Exeter..in the same street infact..after a 37 yr stint in the Air-force they retired back to Devon followed by my sister, brother and me. I don't begrudge anybody coming here..I do however object to the prices going up during the holiday season.. Smiler

No backtracking needed, think what you want. The laughing smiley with his tongue poking out on the first post was enough for me to show it was tongue in cheek.

so the 'rant over' and Mad smiley face was just 'tongue in cheek' was it. you got your rant off your chest, showed everyone how 'nice' you are and smoothed it over with a 'tongue in cheek' comment. ok Roll Eyes

Don't listen to them. Come anyway! Come to North Devon we are friendlier there anyway and the scenery is better Wave

North Devon, arrrr. I know it very well. Bunch of in-laws are there.

There is a possiblity we may move down there next year (somewhere commutable to Exeter)... I suspect I'll slate the tourists then too!

No no no don't do that. We used to be tourists and we fell in love with it and moved 9 years ago, I always remember when I'm stuck behind a stream of traffic with caravans and all sorts in it that I was once a tourist too. Its so beautiful how could I not want to share it? Wink

I know... but being behind a caravan... how can anyone smile through that!??

Have had some lovely hols in Woolacombe (?sp) and around there though!

How grim is it out of season? Is it like seaside towns.... I have family in Bridlington... and winters can be... harsh!

And muddy.

Whereabouts in Devon are you, will try to avoid it!
Have been going to North Devon for thirty odd years, love the place and the people, Hug most of whom are quite glad to see us, especially when we go in October when they are getting over a slow and quiet summer. I'm scared of flying so is my daughter, so I won't be going abroad. Wink

Ooh tell me where you go! We live in the tiniest little prettiest village right on the coast.

Normally, Mortehoe/Putsborough, and combesgate beach, I intend to have my ashes taken there when I've popped my clogs, that's how Much I love it. Hug
Normally try to get down two or three times a year, love it in any weather! wavey
