Please when you come could you remember to pack your brain and not leave it at home. I never have any trouble when I go on holiday. I spend time working out currency values and conversions, where to go, directions, things to do etc. So why when you come down a motorway do you all leave your brain at home?

Secondly, most of the A roads around here are all 60MPH!!!! Obviously unless stated as 40, or sometimes 30. Please realise that this means that you should drive on them at around 50-60MPH AND NOT BLOODY 25!!! When you look in your rearview mirror and see a line of traffic over a mile long behind YES IT IS YOU HOLDING THEM UP!!! And believe it or not most of us have work to get to and things to do, and unlike you we don't want to drive at less than half the bloody speed limit admiring the rear end of your shitty car!

Thirdly! You have been DUPED! Seriously! Although the Euro has gained strength against the pound, as has the Dollar, believe it or not, you still get much better value if you go abroad. It is BLOODY EXPENSIVE DOWN HERE! You are paying upwards of £800 a week for accomodation and YES IT DOES COST £3.80 a pint in my pub! I don't care if it's cheaper where you come from, if you don't like it please go back home and moan about it there (which you will inevitably do anyway) And yes our cheapest main course is £9.00 and the most expensive £25.00 (Lobster) If you want cheaper go to a Witherspoons and get a microwave meal for £5.

Also, when it is raining there is not much for the kids to do. With the introduction of the internet I would strongly advise you to research where you are visiting and find out how much things cost and what there is to do for the kids. It's not MY FAULT you have no imagination and have to use theme parks and such to keep your own kids amused.

It's also NOT MY FAULT THE WEATHER IS BAD!!!! Do I look like Michael fookin Fish? Eh?

Also YOUR SAT NAV (TWAT NAV) is only a guide and should not be relied upon 100%. If you see a lane that you don't think your car can fit through, but your twat nav says it's the right way. Please get out the car and check first, don't just drive down the lane and then complain when you get stuck and trash your new car.

So to sum it all up, you really want to save yourself a lot of trouble next year and just book to go abroad anyway. It will work out cheaper, and if you are just going to go on holiday to moan about something, at least abroad the locals won't understand what you are saying.

Whereabouts in Devon are you, will try to avoid it!
Have been going to North Devon for thirty odd years, love the place and the people, Hug most of whom are quite glad to see us, especially when we go in October when they are getting over a slow and quiet summer. I'm scared of flying so is my daughter, so I won't be going abroad. Wink

So if anyone would like to visit a lovely FRIENDLY place come up to the north of Scotland. We have roads that hardly anybody is on and the only speed cameras north of Perth are on the road to and in Aberdeen.

LOL!

Nah not at all, it was all written tongue in cheek. Most that visit are brilliant. It's just the same during the 6/7 weeks summer holidays. Everyone seems to moan about the weather, the lack of things to do and how expensive it is. It just amuses me that the ones that moan are dragging unhappy kids round with them, and that they visited a pace that most people come to for the natural beauty and the history and the views and walks etc. It's not really a place to come for theme parks or fast food joints and things like that.

And luckily, NO we don't rely on the tourist trade in my pub. It's busy all year round because of where we are (really exclusive area for yachtsmen and holiday home owners) and because of the repuation for the food and beer. Obviously not because of the manager Laugh Razzer

Ha ha ha I live in Devon too and boy have you just upset the South West Tourist Board. Do not listen to the OP, its lovely here in Devon, even when it rains its lovely, there's lot of lovely things to do and as long as you remember that on narrow lanes you have to look out for passing places and be courteous you should be fine. OP is right though in one respect bear in mind that us locals live here too so keep a decent speed up on roads (we don't all want to look at the sea all the time, we live here). Devon the most beautiful place in the country Ooooh Arrrr!

Guess the OP isn't depending on the income from tourists.

Don't listen to them. Come anyway! Come to North Devon we are friendlier there anyway and the scenery is better Wave

LOL! We are reasonably cheap compared to the pubs over the river. And definitely VERY cheap for food compared to the other restaurants here. John Burton Race's place and Mitch Tonks place for starters. Eeker

There is a possiblity we may move down there next year (somewhere commutable to Exeter)... I suspect I'll slate the tourists then too!

No no no don't do that. We used to be tourists and we fell in love with it and moved 9 years ago, I always remember when I'm stuck behind a stream of traffic with caravans and all sorts in it that I was once a tourist too. Its so beautiful how could I not want to share it? Wink

Compared to 'that London' £20 for a lobster is quite reasonable.

I don't like John Burton Race. He looks like a middle aged baby.

I know... but being behind a caravan... how can anyone smile through that!??

Have had some lovely hols in Woolacombe (?sp) and around there though!

How grim is it out of season? Is it like seaside towns.... I have family in Bridlington... and winters can be... harsh!

Ok... and I will change the habit of a lifetime and drive at 20 mph below the speed limit. I may even tow a caravan. Valentine

We live about 20mins drive from Woolacombe. Its beautiful out of season. Its the locals favourite time. There are so many places around here that are just beautiful. If you have never discovered Exmoor you are in for such a treat. We have been all over England and Scotland. Lake District, Cornwall everywhere and nowhere beats here for beautiful scenery. The whole area where I live is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It's £22.50 for the Lobster salad, and £25 for the Lobster Thermador. And yeah it is cheap because I get all the fish and shellfish straight off the fish market each day. We price everything fairly and reasonably compared to the likes of JBR (the twonk) who just put the prices up because of their supposed celebrity status. No need to rip people off if you want them to come back again.

All the London restaurants are using fish caught here and from the Brixham markets anyway. Hence why it is more expensive as you have to pay for the transporting of the fish to get up there. Mind you, I had a meal in the crazy bear in Soho in March and not only was it expensive, it was SHITE!!!

Hi langster sending you a big from one side of the county to the other. Go on admit it, aren't we lucky to live in such a beautiful county?
