I got to bliddy excited ,its Bette Davis  how could I have got that wrong ,I love her as an actress.

I'm sure that voice over man is a black actor who's got a quirky name.  I've seen him ONCE on something and I can't remember what prog it was

There was a guy who became a BB announcer(during a task) ,he had this deep voice,I think he was discovered when he was working as an announcer with a rail company in America.

Mind you, I still reckon 1. is Orson Wells. It must be from Citizen Kane, because the snippet is about newspapers and the voice isn't quite as gravelly as Humph.

I think the first one is Edward G. Robinson and my hubby says the one after Dame Edith Evans (no. 9) is Zeb Soanes from Radio 4.

Blimey! Yes! I just looked Redd Pepper up so it must be him! I've heard him doing so many movie promos that I thought there where loads of copy-cat voices. 

He came from Barbados and was discovered by a TV exec when he became an Underground announcer!

I wavered between Robinson and Bogart......and then swayed onto Welles.

I can't believe I forgot that Redd Pepper was on BB - especially as that was where I finally saw what he looked like. *facepalm smiley with added embarrassment*

I was thinking it wasn't quite posh enough for Nigel Havers.
