I dont smoke but I had my hoover serviced this week and the chap that did it said he was trying to stop smoking and showed me what looked like a plastic cigarette, he said when he feels like one he puffs on it he had little capsules he said he puts in it and it is really working for him he said he smoked 30 plus a day good luck

i have'nt been told to stop .. i want to its hard but if i'm saving money on one thing cant be bad i bought a new jacket today why do i miss the fag?
I gave up over 4 years ago - it wasn't easy - just keep thinking about why you want to stop and the benefits you'll get out of it. Yes, I put on weight (I was overweight anyway) but have been going to Slimming World for six months and have lost over 2 and a half stone - it really is worth the effort, keep it up!
I've only tried twice.... and was shocked at how ill I felt when withdrawel kicked in.
I have cut down though... and smoke roll ups (in the house)... but am really scared of giving up, cos of how crap you feel.

You will be smoke free. You'll just be sucking on something that looks like a tampon applicator.
it does but ten weeks OMGquote:Originally posted by tupps:quote:Originally posted by madamski:aw naw .......... my sons wedding is in 3 weeks and i want to be smokelfreequote:Originally posted by tupps:

Stick at it madamski, believe me the craving will go and a day will come when you will never crave a ciggie again and you won't have all that gunge clogging up your lungs and giving you lots of health problems in years to come.
I was on 20 a day and gave up years ago. Its not easy but does get easier day by day that you are free.

Me neither . No will power whatsoever. Might try one of those inhalator things, see if that works.

Can I say cutting down is not the way to quit because you will still be thinking of your smokes. The only way to quit is to STOP taking them. Simpler, more difficult but the best way in the long run.
i think about it all the time but now i write lists for and against...... my health and purse come first lol ..... i cant believe i went from 30 - 0 .............. its hard but , glad am not on heroin ............. oh boy that must be torture

Hi Madamski, I smoked loads for many years & thought I would never give up but I've been ciggy free for ten weeks now & have found it unbelievably easy having listened to Alan Carr's audio course.
Here's a link to his web site....
http://www.allencarrseasyway.com/
I'm not going to preach but do urge you to google him as well.
Good luck
well done, keep it up it will get easier. i give up 2years ago, and i loved my ciggy, cant stand the smell of them now. I'll be honest it took me a lot longer than 3 weeks before things got better, but you will get there.Drink water when you start to crave. For 3 monthes thats all i thought of, but that wont last. You can do it
The way to stop smoking is to stop putting the ciggies in your mouth and smerkin' 'em. Stick something else in there instead.
Simples.
Simples.
Well done to you! It isn't easy, I know, but keep at it. Try to do things to take your mind off not having a ciggie. It does get easier. A day at a time. Good luck.
i will try *substitutes water for vodka* cant give up bothquote:Originally posted by curly:

I know I am trying to unlearn smoking , I no longer have nicotine replacements at all, I do belong to a group of "quitsters" the thing I am finding hard is I can't change my routine as am housebound most of the time and can't just go for a walk when the cravings hit, I only have one little spot where I allow myself to have a few puffs when it all gets to much, have problems with anxiety also which doesn't help but I will get there, the motto of the group I belong to is you only fail when you stop trying

I got my inhalator and capsules on script from my GP. When you give it a sook are you supposed to taste anything?

My GP says nicotine addiction is harder to overcome than heroin addiction.
