Good morning everyone

Fairly sunny here but a frosty start minus 2° outside at present,High of 6° forecast.

The BBC forecast from Wednesday is very different to the Met Office forecast. BBC has rain every day, Met Office doesn't. BBC has gusty winds in the 40s on Friday morning and Sunday morning, Met Office doesn't.

I hope everyone has a good day

Typical to have a messy weather week what with it being half term

Stay dry & warm folks!

This is supposed to be one of the two bright days we've been forecast for this week El...I'm not holding out much hope based on what I've seen so far..

Stay safe & warm folks!

Slim, you mentioned recently (9th January) that your internet had been down.
Last Thursday I had a routine email from Virgin Media headed "Welcome to your latest broadband stats".
One of the stats was that the connection uptime during the last 3 months was 99.998%. That works out at just over 2 minutes downtime.

Well that's got to be a fib...Our connection has failed several times so far this year El.. generally late at night/early morning. I'm guessing they think we're all tucked up in bed and won't notice

I mentioned that email, Slim, in case you had received a similar email which you could check to see what that said about uptime.
I'm not aware that I had any internet downtime in the last 3 months so that 99.998% seems plausible for me. So I can't tell if that is just an average or specific to me

I haven't spotted an email from them El...maybe it's because you are a business? or just special

Re the asteroid which has been in the news recently with scare stories of the probability of a strike on Earth 22 December 2032 increasing (latest a 1 in 38 chance).
May stay in the news until April then vanish until 2028 when the asteroid become detectible again. Then a more definite assessment of risk would be made. If there is a risk, then something like the DART mission I mentioned in November 2021 would seem likely.

That mission appears to have been successful.

Well I'm glad to hear it was successful El...a 1 in 38 chance is pretty high and quite unnerving
Better stock up...just incase

The corridor of a potential strike, Slim, is  a long way from us, so no need to stock up
The important thing is the asteroid has been detected in time for an action plan can be set up to deal with it if necessary.
