8/10 Which is amazing for me as I’m rubbish at geography.

Surprised yourself.

Yes but there were a couple of lucky guesses

Me too, but I tried to eliminate what I knew and hopefully in the process finding the answer.

I did that with the Cuba one

I got all 10. 8 of them were easy, the other two were got by a process of elimination.

Coming into this a bit late, but I got 10/10 too.

The only one that I had to be careful with was the Caribbean one: the map appeared so small on my screen that I had to zoom in to see the islands correctly.

I do have some sympathy for New Zealand: not only is their flag often confused with Australia's but they really are often left off of maps: notoriously, they didn't even make it onto the original Risk game map...

Continuing on from New Zealand's problem with some maps, see how long it takes you to spot what's wrong with this map that appeared in Gardens Illustrated:

[BTW, I know Shetland and the Channel Islands are missing, but I'm giving GI a "bye" on those as both would appear "off the page", as it were...   ]

IoM and Cumbrae

Looked again and I can just make out Cumbrae!

So it's IoM and A

Blimey: you've got cracking eyesight if you can make out Cumbrae on that!

TBH, at that scale I wouldn't get too bothered about them missing out the really small islands such as the Scilly Isles - it's leaving out the islands that are bigger (in one case, more than twice as big) as the Isle of Wight that is unbelievable!

And yes - the two you're referring to are the ones I had in mind.

AI

There are at least two major problems, Saint...

Yes I know

A - Anglesey

I - Isle of Man ... hope it's ok to say them now

Ah, right.  You were a little too cryptic for me there, Saint: I thought "AI" meant "Anglesey Island". I had picked the map to show Anglesey missing (which has become a common, local, version of the "New Zealand effect"), but then noticed just before posting that the IoM was missing too.

I can sort-of understand why the Isle of Man sometimes gets left off maps, but the way in which Anglesey is often left off just seems plain weird to me. When I was young, I thought it was just part of the mainland (in the same way that a lot of people don't realise that Portsmouth - or more, accurately, Portsea - is an island), so it seemed doubly strange for it to vanish from maps.

This example - from the Royal Horticultural Society - has got to be the weirdest. Virtually all of Anglesey has disappeared, but they've left Holyhead on!
