Despite being clothed by Oxfam Kirsty Allsop has decided to make her position on the kitchen quite clear.
A washing machine in the kitchen is "disgusting".
Although she tried to back track after a non too enthusiastic reaction.
However I have to agree - it is rather distasteful
We have a separate laundry don't you know
Perhaps it's a hygiene thing - taking dirty clothing through a food prep area is not preferred.
Your opinion please
Well firstly; the "none too enthusiastic reaction" wasn't helped by Kirstie calling those who criticised her comments a "bunch of total f*** wits".
There is a genuine concern here in that a washing machine in the kitchen can cause mould forming which in turn can contaminate food. However the simple truth is that most people don't have any choice. IIRC, Britain has amongst the smallest (on average) homes in Europe: perhaps Kirstie should consider using her position as a high-profile housing "expert" to campaign to do something about that?
TBH, I've never had much respect for Kirstie and those who host similar shows, but the final clincher has to be her response to queries as to where people should place the washing machine instead of the kitchen: "Bathroom, hall cupboard, airing cupboard, google tiny laundry rooms."
Seriously? She actually thinks it's OK to put white goods in the bathroom? Apart from anything-else, where does she expect the home owner to plug it in?
