I've had two emails today (Companies I buy books from) informing me of this fact.
I remember my youngest reading the first book - he'd have been 8 at the time - and loving it.
I've never read any of them....nor watched the films ..never fancied them ...although my kids and grandkids keep trying to persuade me
1st one i read was goblet of fire..i loved it, then i read from the start-really loved the whole series
we were at the 1st showing in the country for the 1st film..the press were there, there was only a few of us..my ex had her sons pic in the paper,
in the afternoon, we told the neighbours, they said dont be stupid, we wasnt the 1st to see it (apart from the premiere)
the afternoon edition of paper came out & said we were the 1st people in UK to see it
that shut the effing neighbours up

I love them all - what an imagination and a very clever plot imo. The really grew from 'kids' books (I think the Philosopher's Stone was quite simple) into much more of an adult read as they progressed. I was working away when the last book came out and I remember waiting impatiently for it and not going home that weekend - stayed in and read it all. Fabulous - was gutted that it was over. Never really a fan of films after books, they were ok, but didn't have the same effect as the books for me.
