They've evacuated the area.
So...I was just out running an errand, and had the radio on. The station that I listen to has a BBC News Hour every day at 1pm, and I just caught the tail end of them saying something about how Manchester Police are refusing to share information with the U.S., and how embarrassed U.S. officials are/would be about that. Any idea what that's about?
Is it our esteemed President?
Not this time: it's US government officials leaking intelligence to the press.
It actually started on the night itself: as I was watching events unfold, the BBC reported that US sources (initially US press, but later said to be US security sources) had announced that it was a suicide bomber - at that point the police here had not confirmed that. Later the US press published details of Salman Abedi, but the final straw was when the New York Times printed photos of bomb fragments and Abedi's backpack. The police here were furious because it was evidence and they thought announcing it publicly at this stage could jeopardise the ongoing investigation.
Yes , I heard that too Eugene

UK sharing intelligence with US again
Information sharing has resumed between the UK and US, the BBC understands.
The Home Secretary confirmed on Thursday sharing of information between security services and police would stop after the name of the Manchester bomber and photos from the crime scene had been leaked to the US press.
But now a decision has been taken to end the temporary suspension after assurances were received by counter-terrorism officers in the UK.
Go figure !

Let's just see how long it lasts...
Remember that Amber Rudd expressed her annoyance with the US government for leaking details on Abedi only yesterday: she must have felt she was wasting her breath when the New York Times went and printed those photos almost immediately afterwards...

Yeah: while I was listening to him go on about how dreadful the press leaks were, and how he was going to get to the bottom of it, all I could think was "I bet Mossad aren't exactly happy with you at the moment, either..."
Apparently LBC have sacked Katie Hopkins for her comments about Manchester .....about darn time !!

"There is nothing I or anyone can do to take away the pain you are feeling or to make this better. However I extend my hand and heart and everything I possibly can give to you and yours, should you want or need help in any way."
"Our response to this violence must be to come closer together, to help each other, to love more, to sing louder and to live more kindly and generously than we did before.
I'll be returning to the incredibly brave city of Manchester to spend time with my fans and to have a benefit concert in honour and raise money for the victims and their families."

I'm guessing I'm not the only person who had tears in my eyes as I watched that video. Totally heartwarming.
