TalkTalk customers are being targeted by an industrial-scale fraud network in India, according to whistleblowers who say they were among hundreds of staff hired to scam customers of the British telecoms giant.

The scale of the criminal operation has been detailed by the three sources, who say they were employed by two front-companies set up by a gang of professional fraudsters.

The sources describe working in "call centres" in two Indian cities.

They say as many as 60 "employees" work in shifts in each office, phoning TalkTalk customers and duping them into giving access to their bank accounts.

The whistleblowers say they were given a script in which they were told to claim they were calling from TalkTalk.

They say they then convinced victims to install a computer virus.

A separate team would use that virus to gain access to victims' online banking, they add.

I bet they wish they'd never called you.

When I was at my mum and dad's yesterday, they mentioned getting calls from someone claiming to be "John" from Talk Talk (and obviously in India). Fortunately, my dad is quite savvy and told "John" to get lost.

I had an Apple scam email today ....apparently my ID was used in Russia...so my ID has been frozen , but if I click the link ....yeah right....they need to learn to spell first

Looks as of you got one similar to this one which was confirmed as a scam:

Yep I checked Apple Communities, and saw several posts....but I do have to say that for a second when I looked at the email it did give me a bit of a scare

Baz, the nastier of the scam emails try to scare people so that they don't take the normal checking safeguards and go ahead and click on the link.

Yes...barstewards  I did a quick check on the emails they send you when you log on from a different device ...like my iwatch , Pro etc. ...I always Archive them....and just a quick look was enough to calm my jitters ...cos they never include a link .....plus , like I say they can't spell ...e.g. they left the y off verify
