Sad how things change
Um... Penny for the Guy is Guy Fawkes (5th November), not Halloween (31st October)
Must admit I can't remember what we used to say for Halloween (All Hallows Eve) as everywhere's been trotting out the 'Trick or Treat' thing for so long now.

We knocked doors and said 'Want any guisers?' - and you had to 'do a turn' to get a treat.. not just dress up and stick your hand out like most kids nowadays
i'm with Kirsty Wark...
I am genetically incapable of saying T**** or T**** . The word is "guising" #halloween
I love when the clocks go back btw... love the cosy dark nights.
Guising for Halloween is not to be confused with the Guy of 'Guy Fawkes' night.
The 'gui' of guisers comes from disGUIse as you were supposed to dress up.

Love to feel that 'nip in the air' signalling the coming of winter.
Its almost comforting to see changing of the seasons - it gives a nice ebb and flow to the year

We used to say something like, "May we act the galoshes?" which I believe derived from the word "galoshin".
My ears are burning.
Incidentally, I LOVE this time change thing (except for the one in the spring, where I will get shorted an hour.
Mr. Lori is very tired of me saying it's my favorite day of the year.
Sorry Lori, I tried to tell them it wasn't your fault!
