Due to a change in law, all banks, building societies, insurance companies, accountants, solicitors etc etc will have to send their clients who have got any foreign income letters with wording set out by law.

Accountants who don't give advice to clients on foreign income other than completing their tax returns don't need to send the letters though a lot of accountants will be sending them anyway as a failure by them not to send out these letters will risk them getting fined ÂĢ3,000.

 

People who have foreign income are likely to get lots of these letters saying the same thing over the next few weeks.
