From September the first you'll need to have a TV licence to watch stuff on the BBC iPlayer, no matter when you watch, live or later!

You are partially correct saying EC, I actually did not make the post, my personal secretary did.
But nice to see I'm in your thoughts Moonie.

Do we know how they're going to police this? Will we have to register and sign in every time we want to access iPlayer?
I saw this too....not that it will make much difference to us as we have a TV anyway .

There wasn't any real detail in the article, apparently they're going to leaflet every household, so hopefully there'll be some detail in that. As Baz indicated, it won't affect those of us who have a licence already.

I already sign in. Have had an account for years.

Yes, but you don't currently need to sign in to access iPlayer.
Also, having an account isn't (currently) proof that you have a TV license.
So: are we all going to have to re-register, quoting our TV license number?

No, but you needed an account to join the footy forum before they pulled it!
If the BBC are going down the route of saying you need a licence to watch iPlayer, then I think it would be a logical step to use your license number.
However, it would not stop multiple uses of the license number. If you were family of 5 I think you would all rightly want to use iPlayer where ever you are. Also what if numbers got into the wild?
The way the BBC is going I could see it end up being another advert funded station.

If it happens, I'll just do what I do with ITV and record and bypass when I watch
