Ok, serious now.....I've never been so 'achey' and 'bent double' as I have recently. Is it really age? Do the hormones kick in at age 50 for some reason? (I've just gone 51) but find myself not being able to move at times Do I need to go see the doc?

No, you're just getting like the rest of us Seriously Pam, since I was 32 it's been a nightmare, back, neck...now knees and flipping elbows and most of it related to the first two problems
I know I'm not fit and had the 'op' six years ago and took HRT for five years, and doc says it was fine to come off it. I wonder though?
I'm 55 - I had a virus mid Jan ..........followed by a cold and cough ......a few years ago I'd have shaken it all off .................taking me a while to recover TBH. And the bad back is a constant!
Oh to be young again!

I took HRT for nearly 10 years.... then had to come off it for health reasons..... had all sorts of menopausal symptoms since
I'm getting the feeling that I need to go back to the docs for a full health check going by what's being said here Thanks folks

Hormones, bliddy hormones, at 51 do you even need to ask?
Electric blankets and heated car seats are your back's friend...apart from when you're having hot flushes!
And your oestrogen count is?

That's the thing tho Supe. I don't need heated car seats, I don't drive) but I also don't have hot flushes apart from a BP thing. And I'm fine in bed
Oops *rephrases that*
I've said it before and I'll say it again 'cos for me and many. many others it was/is a bloody miracle in a jar http://www.progesterone.co.uk/

Lucky you..The naked on the back door step to cool off from the night sweats in the snow moments can be interesting though..for the neighbours
I'm menopausal but hate meddling with nature ..........i'M TRYING REALLY HARD TO GET THROUGH IT WITHOUT MEDICAL INTERVENTION. Sorry for the caps ..................................on the plus side - it saves on the heating bills!

What's Bugs Bunny got to do with it?

I know where you're coming from . Do old people really need cold weather payments? I'm never cold TBH.

See, I don't seem to have that problem. It's the achey thing and not being able to move sometimes when I've been sitting for a while. Is it age?

Did you try the serenity cream Suzy?
For me: hot flushes every 10 mins or so ALL DAY EVERY DAY just got too bloody much

Reckon....physical activity could be a factor too?

Yeah, I'll admit I'm not as agile as I should be

I did ...............and didn't think it made too much difference - Mr Woo disagrees and says 'you really were better on that stuff' possibly I was - it may have took a while to kick in by which time I'd lost patience ......................i may send off for another pot.

Try again Sooz. It can't be doing any harm if hubby's saying that
Achey and bent will have nothing to do with yer hormones Pam. I'd ask if you're not sleeping well enough. If so, at your age that is likely to be menopausal.
I saw my GP about this and realised I'd been pre-menopausal for more than a decade. When I finally stopped my periods 10 years later I talked to my GP again he flung out a prescription for HRT. When I read how you have to take it I realised it was so complicated and how hard it was to integrate into my existing medication regime I realised I needed to try and find out more about this menopause thing!
And then I realised how HRT may only delay the menopause symptoms rather than eradicate them. Bummer!
I opted for the 'sweat it out then' approach. I still regret it to this day but reckon I've got to stick with it now and think 3 years on I'm getting there!

At ÂĢ20 all in it's worth persevering...oh and dare i say it alcohol and coffee definitely make the flushes a lot worse, in my experience
And then I realised how HRT may only delay the menopause symptoms rather than eradicate them. Bummer!
When I realised that I thought ....................bugger it - I'll see it through. Some of my friends have thought - I need respite now - I hate all the symptoms but look forward to the day when it's all behind me - I don't want an easy fix now only to feel shot later in life when there maybe other problems to cope with. And ..................much as it's a pile of crap - it is just nature really - I have to be dying to take a paracetamol TBH .............I believe in letting nature take it's course (with the exception of Zantac).

If I lived to be a 1000 I couldn't read all of the posts on those menopause forums!
Serenity natural progesterone cream is the way to go for me, bloody marvellous and I'm now down to a mini smidgeon every 2/3 days

Yep! Those forums probably made me put myself through far more angst than I needed!
Can you tell me about this cream please Supes? I still have bad nights so I'm still happy to try a natural product. PM if you want.

It's here Zochi http://www.progesterone.co.uk/
I'm a social not a natural scientist so don't even ask me to properly describe the theory behind it...My understanding is: for most women menopause /PMS/PND symptoms are caused by oestrogen overload/progesterone imbalance... (And, for those of you who think you should tough it out like your granny did, as I did for a year or more after my op' the reason we are suffering so much more is 'cos our food and water supply is overloading us with oestrogen more and more, so we're not just wimps!)
All I know is that my life was dominated by hot flushes, sweats, anxiety, panics and serious 'tummy problems' for a year, (after a surgically induced menopause,) and after two days of Serenity cream, my hot flushes etc. reduced from every ten mins to three a day and I got my life back!
Take it it doesn't help with insomnia Supes Mornin'!

Ha ha, I'm a night owl slinki and, usually, an early riser too. Had an early night and a lay in yesterday 'though, so I'm stored up for the next month or so!
Hahaha! Ladies. let's not go all hormonal here!
Thanks Supes. I'll check that out. I reckon all I need is a little help now.
And Slinkeh! Night owls are now in fashion!
