I use AVG on my laptop
Not sure I follow you Saint.
What is wrong with your present security?
I have avast, malwarebytes and hitman pro
If you are talking anti virus, then I use Sophos. We also use Sophos at work and it seems pretty good to me.
I don't have a laptop ....hope that helps Sorry Renton , I don't know much about that sort of thing ....but why are you going offline

I'm the only pro hitman around here!
I'm cancelling it as it failed to stop viruses and Windows to become corrupted.
So Norton, Kapersky etc . . . advice would be appreciated

One thing to remember is an anti virus will only block potential viruses if it knows about them. So if you get a virus before the anti virus companies have got a copy of it and developed a virus signature then no AV will help you.

What's that?
Although this quote from their website might make you dismiss them immediately, don't, as I say I use it and my employer pays them to use their products.
Quote "We believe passionately that home users deserve the same level of protection our enterprise customers enjoy. We appreciate your trust in allowing Sophos to protect your home".

What it will do is protect you while you decide if you want to research AV and security at your leesure...

I'm a little worried about free stuff cos it will run alongside anything I purchase. I want a company I can call if anything goes wrong so have to stick to a brand, I think.

It's not wise to run multiple similar security programmes as I have found they clash with each other.
I have never found any reason to call Sophos as it just works. Sophos have been around ages and although not know as much as Norton they are a big brand in the industry.
I run it on my computer without issue.
As I say, you could install the free version while you decide which way you wanna go.

Just didn't like it Saint...plenty of free ones out there just as good. I have other backup stuff running alongside Avast and never had a problem and used Malwarebytes for years
McAfee looks quite good
Thank you for all the advice I'm about to ignore.
It really is appreciated.
Must log off - don't know when i'll return
I'm 'outage' here (groan)
Like Dame I use Avast [ my brother, who works in IT, said it was the best ]. There's even a free version which is pretty decent.

A little drastic that EC
Except that the computer mags say it's a resource hogger
For what it's worth, I use Avast too.

Lol - just don't hack Freddie Starr if you know what's good for you. You may see things you can't unseen.
