BE AWARE - bogus calls are being made to home addresses!!

We have received TWO automated calls saying they are the Post Office and requesting my mum's DOB and post code.

I didn't enter these details and it then said it was putting me through to a a customer service advisor.

Moments later the line went dead.

So I called the Post Office - they said this would never happen from their side, they never call customers in this way and DO NOT enter any details.

Anyone else had this call???

I have had anything from one to six calls a day from a number starting 0191 but I have incoming caller display. I never answer a number I don't recognise even if only partially. They never leave a message as some *cold callers* do either.

So they are wasting theit time and their money. I like the *wasting their time and money* bit

No, but we don't answer call that are from a number we don't recognize unless we are expecting a call.

What happens if you're expecting a call from a number you don't recognise??

Well, if you are, they will leave a message and you can call them back, always assuming you have a message storage facility, of course

I usually google numbers I don't recognise. You can then see if anyone-else has reported the number to those monitoring sites, and read the comments to see if the caller's been identified.

I once got a mysterious call from an 0800 number. I assumed it was a phishing scam, but googled it and discovered it was the generic number all NHS Scotland outgoing calls are routed through (even calls from hospital payphones!   ) Turned out a doctor at a hospital was genuinely trying to get in touch with me...

Saint, I did a search and found a report that some females had been rung supposedly by the Post Office asking them for their postcode. Having given their post code they found some days later that their house had been burgled whilst they were out

Well ... they called for my mum - I answered  ... and the house is owned by my Dad ... wonder what would have happened??

Me too. If I can't find it I let it go and if it's important they'll call back.
