The Facil bit is sort of Latin - facilis = easy to do. Facilitate is derived from that.

The UK's new polar research ship is to be named RRS Sir David Attenborough, after Boaty McBoatface previously topped a public vote.

 

One of the ship's remotely operated sub-sea vehicles will be named Boaty.

On the news today:

The name has certainly stuck 

 Imagine if it discovers something important down there, and Boaty McBoatface enters the scientific journals 

Saw it on the news this morning and was delighted that there is not one but three. 

This is a fitting tribute to the mischievous British sense of anti-establishment  and sense of humour!
