Other than gaining publicity for the institution concerned, I cannot see the point of handing out these degrees to celebrities.
Everyone else has to work hard for their degrees.
What prompted my thoughts on this was hearing that Ed Sheeran had got one. 
I mean he's been around 5 minutes and although he may have shifted a few tunes, there are plenty of others who have been around longer and sold more.
But it's not just Ed, it's all of them who get one, or two or in some cases more.
Apparently some celebrities use the title - kinda embarrassing really.
