I'm going today, in about an hour, for the first time in around 10 years! 
I'm full of shame, but it's just so darn expensive. However, I've reached a point where I need to get some stuff checked out. I'm actually quite nervous - partly because it's the dentist, but mainly because I know I'm going to be all guilty about not going for so long.

i went about 10yrs without a visit 
Just said i was a bit afraid plus had no problems - except a 'temp' filling i had over 10yrs earlier had suddenly fallen out - hence the visit.
They were fine about it - had needle and NEVER felt it !!!
They never called me back (18months ago) so TODAY (yep coincidence) i'm calling a new practice as they do AIRFLOW teeth cleaning for ÂĢ55
I go every six months,at the moment I qualify for free dental care.I have the NHS exemption form.Think I'm due to go in January.
I go regularly and have an appointment on Thursday.
It must be about three years since I was there. What annoys me is when you're on benefits there's no work to do. Different when you're in work or got money though 
So I've been. The dentist was quite impressed by the state of my teeth considering I hadn't been for 10 years. He didn't offer me a sugar-free lollipop though 
All that needs doing is a big clean.

I actually knew someone who did just that as they were so scared of the dentist. I can't see how taking a blade to your own gums is less frightening than going to a professional.
Today was my 6 monthly visit.

im not really frightened, i just dont like going,i usually wait until offending tooth is doing my head in,have a good drink and apply the pliers

So we all went on the same day.
Maybe we should get everyone to go on the same day next time.
