The small print... Asda do a price guarantee too, you can check your receipts on line 24hrs after your purchase and if the things they include aren't 10% cheaper they give you a voucher you can print out. People go around collecting Asda receipts for this.. It's known as 'wombling'.

The Tesco one sounds similar, it probably has a minimum items per transaction and only includes what they want it to (asda its 8 items per transaction i think)

They all tweak them enough to fit what they want but in the adverts it looks good to 'lazy shoppers' (those too busy to shop around so believe the hype) resulting in more customers.

I do the Asda one Jen ....but only for my online shopping

There is a Co-Op within a five minute walk so we go there most days. We prefer Morrisons out of the big shops. Occasionally we buy specialist things (toilet rolls, fruit and nuts, and breakfast cereals) from Lidl.

We never ever shop at other big supermarkets although if we have been to an away game in Lancashire then the Waitrose on Manchester Piccadilly does reasonably priced cans of Old Speckled Hen, small bottles of prosecco, and chilled cans of G&T. Trains back to the top right are like a pub on wheels.

Sprout Tesco email me a voucher code for the difference, calculated  automatically, if my online grocery shop would've been cheaper elsewhere. However its only valid for one month and the maximum is ÂĢ10. Main thing I realised is how riddy expensive Tesco are compared to other supermarkets. Vouchers smouchers.... just make it cheaper in the first riddy bliddy place!

Joe, you mention Co-op, do you find the service really slow in there? We have three in local proximity all in different directions and they are all shockingly slow to serve at the till! we have pretty much boycotted the whole chain as a result

Yes jen, you are spot on. I used to work across the road from one, it was quite handy for a soft drink or sandwich. But to be honest it would have been quicker for me to go to France for the  cheese in my sandwich. They seemed to have no understanding of getting staff to relieve build ups of customers. The staff also seemed to treat customers like they were in a social club having a good old chat!!!

When I read that they were in financial difficulty some time back I was not the least surprised.
