I can't remember when it started but it seems to be the standard way of showing respect at football now.

The man whose Everton team seriously dented the dominance of Liverpool during the 1980's!
I've never seen footage of him at his absolute prime as a player - but the way people still talk of the holy trinity - the Everton midfield of Kendall, Ball and Harvey during the late 60's and early 70's; he was clearly some player!
