Poor little lad
I cried all the way through the book...I'll pop back in here after I've watched to read your thoughts
My favourite book !!!
Been to Laurie Lee's grave in Slad - said a fond hello and took a little memento of a small stone, lying there at the foot of his grave stone
I still have it
It's an idyllic age
Innocent, exciting, simple yet fulfilling
I remember when I visited how huge the rolling hill were
I loved it
Wished I was 10 again and was running through the woods
I'm recording it.
I have two editions of this book
One remains sealed - I've had it more than 15yrs.
I'm gonna open it and read it when I win the lottery LOL

I have tears of happiness and sadness for the warmth and simplicity of childhood, brings back memories of my childhood running free.
See that little stone at the foot of his gravestone?
That's my momento
This is Laurie's actual house when he was a child
It's privately owned now
I am crying again at the simplicity of life.....
I've always wanted to run around the woods in the dark

jackpot only . . . then i'll open it and lie on the grass and read it with a smile knowing that I can duck out of the rat race and live more like a child again
The school where he was taught
I can't stop smiling with tears in my eyes now.....
It's a lost era Syd
So sad
Never to be experienced again

Wonderful.......I have cried enough tears for a month, but I have a smile on my face and a warmth in my heart.

I think it is, I just think we are to busy to notice, I see Laurie Lee in my Grandson quite often. (When he puts down his IPad that is)

If I could live in any era it would be the 1940's
I would happily give up all modern conveniences to live back then and experience the war.
SYD have you seen HOPE AND GLORY
