........by Cameron's supposed altruism. The 20,000 that is being bandied about by the media is over 5 years and is only 'UP TO' which means, potentially, we could take fewer than 20.000 - right down to ZERO!

I doubt that it will be zero EFFT And I do think the idea of taking people ,children and orphans directly from the refugee camps and not from say Calais is a good idea ....
Hi Baz, I don't really think it'll be zero either, but I won't be too surprised to find it DOESN'T amount to 20,000 by the end of the 5 years.
Ah, I know what you're on about now.
And according to a tweet made by Paddy Ashdown this afternoon, any children once they reach 18 will be deported.

Really? Well, that really puts the icing on it!!!!
Minister in the Lords just confirmed refugee orphans and children brought in under Cameron's scheme will be deported at age 18.

Sickening isn't it
Paddy Ashdown's comments in the Guardian are worth reading:

I am not sure what to think about this. .Britain is in a position where we have people coming in constantly via the chunnel... not all other countries have that same regular influx, or if they do they are usually on their way to Calais to come over here so, those countries are just stop off points for a short while.. maybe we are allowing for the chunnel influx figures and then adding the extras from the camps?
I don't know the whole facts and figures. .I suspect a lot of the nay sayers don't either ..I'd rather wait for the real story not some 'headline'
I do think the idea of taking the refugees directly from the camps thereby bypassing the people traffickers is a good idea.. yes there are a lot of other displaced people around already in Europe from this years influx that have to be dealt with but, countries do have to stop this people trafficking thing where so many lives are lost in rotten boats trying to cross the med... We've got to go to the source and start helping there so it doesn't keep happening and I think it is not just a European problem either these countries are suffering attacks because they were left in a state of flux, so a target for IS, after nations from around the world got involved in the first place. . yet Europe is being left to clear up the mess of a Worldwide action in that region
Better men than Cameron have tried to fool me
