Tunnels and trains
I read that as "tunnels and drains"

I remember once playing hide and seek with cousins at my nans house in Whitecrook and hiding in the old fashioned walk in boiler/room/airing cupboard. Nobody could find me and when I eventually decided to show myself the door handle inside the cupboard broke off as I tried to open it and left me trapped in darkness for what seemed like an eternity (possibly 40 minutes lol).
Completely off topicâĶ but my first experience of claustrophobia!
my ears pop
Isn't that a pressure thing?

I would have been a jibbering wreck after 40 minutes.

There's an incredibly long railway tunnel in the Hope Valley that I used to have to go through every week. I'd normally hold my breath but it took about five minutes. Longest five minutes of the journey.

I don't even like going through the Clyde tunnel and that only takes about a minute!
I hate tunnels - couldn't bear the thought of the chunnel

I know it's five minutes because I timed it... and I used to count it out in my head.... 'half way there... three quarters...' and I'd panic if they slowed down half way through!

Wild horses wouldn't get me through that.

Oh I'd like to try that

We got stuck in Poland when the ash cloud happened and we had to come through the Channel Tunnel to get home. It was the worst journey of my life!

It's quite a common phobia i think - some suffer terribley. The train into Waverley stopped inside the tunnel quite often - i didn't like it, but I could cope, but I remember one day there was a middle aged woman, clinging on to her daughter and sobbing hysterically and whimpering 'why have we stopped? why have we stopped?' . I felt so sorry for her.

Poor woman. It's a horrible phobia - tunnels, lifts, MRI scanners are all a nightmare!
Loads of secret ones under London apparently I'd love to see them. There's something fascinating about them...
