Big Brother 2015: Over 1,000 complaints to Ofcom over Helen Wood
There have been more than 1,000 complaints to TV watchdog Ofcom about last night’s Big Brother.
In less than 24 hours Ofcom has revealed it’s notched up 1,100 complaints about the latest episode of the current Channel 5 series.
The show saw Helen Wood clash with Brian Belo, branding him a “psycho” amongst other, more damaging comments.
It led to Brian leaping a fence to escape the house to get away from Helen, while she was issued with a warning despite calls for Big Brother to boot her out.
A spokesperson for Ofcom said today:
“Ofcom has received 1,100 complaints about Big Brother on Channel 5 on June 24th.
“We will assess these complaints before deciding whether to investigate or not.”
Marc O’Neill was also warned for his role in the rows but speaking today, Brian wasn’t sure if anything would change.
He claimed that the other housemates were “absolutely petrified” of Helen and accused her and Marc of ganging up on others.
However proving that people will always complain no matter what, Bit On The Side host Rylan Clark has been forced to defend his show from claims of being biased against Helen.
He hit back on Twitter after some viewers accused last night’s episode of being ‘Anti Helen’.
“You can never win… One day I’m biased towards one housemate, the next I’m biased towards another???
LET ME JUST CLEAR THIS UP.. #BBBOTS is a fan show where viewers make their voices heard,” Rylan tweeted.
He continued: “I’m the presenter and ALWAYS try to make as many people’s opinions heard. If someone doesn’t like a housemate I instantly ask who does, to try and argue both sides of the case.
“If you feel as strongly as some of your tweets by all means COME AND JOIN OUR AUDIENCE and have your say, this is an opinion show.
“You won’t always like people’s opinions. Thanks.”
Big Brother continues tonight at 9PM on Channel 5
